Deductible, refunds and certificate delivery
- Excess / deductible
Neither the General Terms and Conditions nor the IPID states a deductible or excess; the § 20 table of coverage and limits lists cover amounts only (both documents read August 31, 2026).
- Refund if the visa is refused
Full refund, stated in the contract itself. § 2 'Withdrawal right': when 'the Schengen VISA request is rejected by European authorities' and the policyholder provides 'a valid proof of the VISA refusal', with the trip not started and no claim made, 'We will refund You the full amount paid' (pp. 2–3). The FAQ answer matches: 'we will refund the premium paid in full for any persons denied a Schengen visa' against 'proof of the visa denial'. No fee, deadline or processing time is stated in either place.
source: GTC § 2 'Withdrawal right', pp. 2–3; FAQ 'My visa was not granted. Can I get a refund on the travel insurance?', schengen.europ-assistance.com/en/faqs — both read 2026-08-31
- Certificate delivery
The GTC's introductory page states the certificate 'is immediately sent after the purchase and is recognized by embassies, consulates and visa centres' (p. 1, a page marked 'just for information purposes'). The FAQ, read August 31, 2026: 'The mandatory Insurance Certificate is sent by e-mail immediately after payment and is also available to download from the purchase confirmation page.'
- Notes
Row read from the international English-language product at schengen.europ-assistance.com, underwritten by 'Europ Assistance SA, trading as Europ Assistance SA Irish Branch' (Irish Company Registration Office certificate N° 907089, § 18, p. 8); country-specific Europ Assistance sites sell other products under other documents. One GTC governs both Schengen and Schengen Plus; this row reads the Schengen column. The product is not single-trip by wording: 'You are entitled to buy a single Policy to cover You for multiple Trips', 1 to 365 days, 'each Trip must not exceed 4 months' (p. 2). Territorial caveat: § 7's printed list names 26 countries, and Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania — Schengen members since January 1, 2023 and January 1, 2025 — appear only in the Schengen Plus row; § 18, however, defines the Schengen Area dynamically, 'at the time of the subscription of the Insurance Policy', and the IPID states cover 'in all countries included in the Schengen area' (read the same day). We quote both readings and adjudicate neither. § 2 sets a waiting period: 'a waiting period of 7 Days shall be respected, and no claim can be paid for any Sudden Illness or Accidental Bodily Injury' arising in it — on the printed terms, a purchase under seven days before departure leaves the first trip days inside that window. § 16 caps frequency: 'each Insured Person can declare only one Covered Event per Policy and one Covered Event per year maximum', and 'All expenses engaged without our prior agreement will not generate any reimbursement' (pp. 1, 3, 5). The mortal-remains and coffin clauses cover 'the Policyholder's death', not that of every insured person — a wording difference the document leaves unexplained. Age limit: 'beneficiaries aged 74 or younger at the moment of the purchase' (§ 14, p. 4). The duration quote is reproduced as printed, including 'the all duration'.
