Deductible, refunds and certificate delivery

Excess / deductible

Stated, not hidden: the medical expenses row carries 'Deductible: €50 per claim' (§ 7 table, p. 19, and the standalone Table of Benefits), and § 3.1 words the limit as 'less a 50 Euro deductible' (p. 4). The optional private liability cover carries 'Deductible: €150 per claim'. The IPID names only the liability deductible, not the medical one (all documents read August 31, 2026).

Refund if the visa is refused

Refund path stated in both FAQ and contract, with a fee in all cases. FAQ, read August 31, 2026: 'After this 14-day period, a refund is only possible upon presentation of an official refusal letter issued by the relevant embassy or consulate' and 'In all cases, a management fee of €25 will be deducted per contract.' The contract confirms: 'The customer may request a refund within 14 days of purchase', after which a refund is 'only possible upon presentation of an official letter of refusal', and 'In all cases, 25€ are deducted for management fees' (§ 6.1, p. 12). No percentage or processing time is stated in either place.

Certificate delivery

The product page states 'You'll receive your contract immediatly after secure payment' (spelling as printed). The FAQ, read August 31, 2026: 'we automatically send you this certificate by email, no need to ask for it! You will receive this certificate in French and in English', delivered 'immediately by e-mail together with the documents you require for your trip (certificate of travel insurance, membership certificate, etc.)'.

Notes

Row read from the English-language product at mondialcare.eu, sold as 'Schengen Travel Insurance' on the product page, titled 'SCHENGEN VISA INSURANCE' on the Terms and Conditions cover and 'Schengen Medical Insurance' / 'Product: SCHENGEN MEDICAL' on the IPID; the plan name 'Schengen Access' from our intake register appears in none of the documents. Risk carrier per § 1.1: 'THE INSURER: Groupe Special Lines on behalf of Groupama Rhône-Alpes Auvergne' — Mondial Care is a brand of broker AGIS SAS (p. 17), the IPID's header reads 'Insurance Company : GROUPAMA - GSL SPECIAL LINES'. § 1.1 names 'Mutuaide Assistance' as assistance service provider while § 3.3 and § 6.9 direct emergencies to 'GROUPAMA Assistance' by phone; we quote both and adjudicate neither. Two tiers, 'OPTION PREMIUM' and 'OPTION COMFORT' (§ 7, p. 19): private liability carries a checkmark only under Comfort, and the medical cap reads '€35,000 or €100,000 ... depending on the option taken out' without mapping amounts to tiers — the IPID calls liability 'the Multitrip option'. Eligibility: 'tax and/or legal residence ... outside the Schengen area', 'without age limit', purchase 'no later than the day before departure' (§ 1.1, p. 3). § 3.1 sets a waiting period: in the event of hospitalisation, medical costs 'are only covered after a waiting period of 7 days'; 'There is no waiting period in the event of an accident' (p. 4). Definition caveat: § 1.2's 'SCHENGEN AREA' lists 26 named states and omits Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania — Schengen members since 2023 and 2025 — while § 2 grants validity 'in all Schengen countries' for stays under twelve months; we quote both readings. The benefits table words the medical row 'hospital fees in the country of residence' although § 1.1 requires residence outside Schengen — reproduced as printed. On cancellation the documents diverge: § 6.2 calls the policy 'a firm period without tacit renewal' that 'may not be terminated and reimbursed during the period', the IPID says it 'may not be cancelled by the Insured', yet § 6.1 states the 14-day/visa-refusal refund path with the EUR 25 fee. P. 2, repeated in § 6.11: 'The insurance policy wording in French remains the only legal reference in the event of a dispute' — the English text we quote is a courtesy translation.

Questions about MondialCare (Schengen plan)

Does the MondialCare Schengen plan state the EUR 30,000 minimum?

Yes, above it: medical, hospital and surgical expenses are capped at '€35,000 or €100,000 per person per insurance period (depending on the option taken out)' — either option clears the EUR 30,000 floor of Article 15(3) (§ 7 table, p. 19, read August 31, 2026).

Is the policy valid in every Schengen state?

§ 2 states 'Coverage under your policy apply in all Schengen countries', plus French overseas territories, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Ireland and the United Kingdom. The § 1.2 definition, however, lists 26 states and omits Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania, members since 2023 and 2025 (read August 31, 2026).

Does the policy carry a deductible or excess?

Yes — stated in the document: 'Deductible: €50 per claim' on the medical expenses row, worded 'less a 50 Euro deductible' in § 3.1; the optional liability cover carries EUR 150 per claim. The IPID names only the liability deductible (all read August 31, 2026).

Is the premium refunded if the visa is refused?

Within 14 days of purchase a refund can be requested; after that it is 'only possible upon presentation of an official letter of refusal' from the embassy or consulate. 'In all cases', EUR 25 is deducted per contract (§ 6.1, p. 12, and the FAQ, both read August 31, 2026).
