Deductible, refunds and certificate delivery
- Excess / deductible
No deductible established: Article 6 section 1 provides that the Benefits and Limits Table 'shows also the amount of deductible if such deductible has been established for the Insured', and the printed table lists only the EUR 60,000 sum insured, repatriation at actual costs and EUR 200 dentist care. The IPID mentions no deductible either, and the distributor's cover page states 'No deductibles.' (all read August 31, 2026).
- Refund if the visa is refused
Full refund under the distributor's published procedure: 'refund in full of your insurance premium' if the contract has not started, 'without any additional fees within 14 days'; signed refund form plus 'documents and papers about your visa decision (rejection)' to contact@schengen.care; pro-rata refund for unused cover otherwise. The GTC contain no visa-refusal clause of their own — Article 4 section 12 grants the pro-rata refund on early termination and section 17 requires written submission.
source: schengen.care/refund-procedure — same cell, source and check date (2026-08-31) as /refunds-if-visa-refused, re-read today with identical wording; GTC Article 4 sections 12 and 17
- Certificate delivery
The purchase page states 'You receive insurance documents instantly via email.'; the distributor's legal notice is the precise version: policy, assist card and general terms 'are sent only at email just after premium is booked at insurer bank account' (both read August 31, 2026). Payment itself happens on the insurer's transaction site, axa-assistance-insurance.eu.
- Notes
Distributor and risk carrier are different companies: schengen.care is owned by INS Global (NIP 8471455336), a Polish insurance agent registered with the Financial Supervision Authority under license 11240779/A and acting for the insurer under a power of attorney dated 1/11/2018; the risk carrier is Inter Partner Assistance S.A., Brussels, operating through its Polish branch (KRS 0000320749), part of AXA Group, for which 'AXA Assistance' is the trademark (Legal Notice PDF and GTC Article 1, both read August 31, 2026). The underlying product is the Poland-issued 'Health Insurance for Foreigners': the IPID aims it 'at natural persons who are not Polish citizens', and the GTC conclude it 'for Foreigners', defined as anyone who is not a citizen of Poland (Article 5 section 3, Article 2 item 3) — no residence-country restriction such as AXA Schengen's UK/US exclusion. Conditions with visa relevance: treatment must be conducted in a Schengen Area member state that is not the Country of Permanent Residence (Article 3 section 1), and Claims Events are excluded in the Country of Permanent Residence, in a state where the Insured holds public health insurance (except Poland-related cases) and in 'a state where the Insured is staying illegally' (Article 5 section 2) — moot for an applicant residing outside Schengen, not moot for a foreigner already living in a Schengen state. The Schengen Area is defined dynamically via the 14 June 1985 agreement with no printed country list (Article 2 item 16), so the 2023 and 2025 accessions required no document change; the distributor's cover page counts 'All 29 countries of Schengen Area' (read August 31, 2026). Duration mechanics: cover runs from 00:00 hrs on the policy start date to 23:59 hrs on the end date (Article 4 sections 9 and 11), and if an Insured Event leaves the Insured unable to return, 'the term of the Medical Insurance shall be automatically extended until the moment the external border of the Schengen Area is crossed' (Article 3 section 9). Matching the term to the intended stay remains the buyer's selection in monthly blocks; the distributor states the full-stay duty ('You need to have valid health insurance for all time of your stay on Schengen territory', period-of-cover page), the GTC do not. Claims caveats: benefits are paid in Polish currency at the National Bank of Poland average rate except direct payments to foreign health facilities and entities (Article 6 section 10); the Assistance Centre must be contacted within 48 hours of a Claims Event (Article 11 section 4); care related to a disease or injury from the 12 months preceding the term is excluded (Article 9 section 5). Dated observation, not adjudicated: on the read date the schengen.care homepage 302-redirects to europe-insurance.eu, a storefront selling the successor product 'Europe Insurance' (also naming AXA Assistance), while every schengen.care deep page and the buy flow of this row's product still serve.

Questions about schengen.care
Who is the insurer behind a schengen.care policy?
Inter Partner Assistance S.A., seated in Brussels and operating through its Polish branch, part of AXA Group — 'AXA Assistance' is that company's trademark. schengen.care itself is owned by INS Global, a Polish insurance agent under license 11240779/A, and payment completes on the insurer's own transaction site (GTC Article 1 and Legal Notice, read August 31, 2026).
Does the schengen.care policy state the EUR 30,000 minimum of Article 15?
It states double that floor: the IPID reads 'Medical expenses – up to EUR 60 000' and the GTC's Benefits and limits table sets the Medical Insurance sum insured at EUR 60,000 (both documents read August 31, 2026).
Is the schengen.care policy valid in every Schengen state?
The GTC state: 'The Insurance shall cover Claims Events that occurred in the Schengen Area.' (Article 5 section 1), with the Area defined dynamically rather than as a printed country list (Article 2 item 16). Treatment must take place in a Schengen state that is not the insured's Country of Permanent Residence (Article 3 section 1; read August 31, 2026).
What if illness stops you leaving the Schengen Area before the policy ends?
The term extends by itself: if an Insured Event leaves the insured unable to return home, 'the term of the Medical Insurance shall be automatically extended until the moment the external border of the Schengen Area is crossed' (Article 3 section 9, read August 31, 2026).
