Deductible, refunds and certificate delivery
- Excess / deductible
The deductible is elected at purchase: '$0, $100, $250, $500, $1,000, $2,500, or $5,000 per certificate period' (Schedule, p. 7); after it, 'we will pay 100% of eligible expenses' up to the limit (p. 7). Emergency Medical Evacuation and Repatriation of Remains are 'not subject to deductible' (p. 7), and the emergency room co-payment applies only to claims incurred in the U.S. (p. 7). Article 15 of Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 says nothing about deductibles; the certificate itself confirms the elected deductible (Definitions 'Certificate', p. 31), so a consulate sees the choice. Read August 31, 2026.
- Refund if the visa is refused
The wording does not name visa refusal. Its general cancellation clause applies: 'Premiums will be refunded in full if a cancellation request is received prior to the certificate effective date.' After that date a '$25 USD cancellation fee' applies, 'only the prorated portion of the premium will be refunded', and no claims may have been filed (DoC 'Cancellation', p. 3). Read August 31, 2026.

- Certificate delivery
WorldTrips states buyers 'receive a digital Schengen visa letter within their confirmation email', also retrievable in the Member Portal, and that the letter 'specifies that your coverage meets Schengen visa requirements' plus benefit amounts and coverage period (worldtrips.com/schengen-visa-insurance, read August 31, 2026). The DoC defines the certificate as confirming 'plan type, period of cover, home country, certificate number, special terms and/or conditions, deductible, chosen benefit list, and geographical area of cover' (Definitions, p. 31).
- Notes
Currency: every limit in this row is USD — the document states no EUR figure, so the Article 15(3) EUR 30,000 test requires a currency conversion at the date of assessment, which CoverMandate does not perform; WorldTrips' own Schengen page offers 'Minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros (about USD $35,445)' as its indication (read August 31, 2026). Age bands sit in the schedule (p. 6): 65-79 elect '$50,000 or $100,000', age 80 or older is capped at '$10,000'. Territory: the DoC has no territorial section; scope follows from 'coverage outside of their home countries' (p. 5) and the certificate's 'geographical area of cover' (p. 31); U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents 'are not eligible for coverage within the U.S.' (Definitions 'Home Country', p. 33); the Schengen-wide claim appears on WorldTrips' pages and visa letter, not in the wording. Repatriation: evacuation goes 'only to the nearest hospital that is qualified' (p. 15); return home under the evacuation benefit applies only 'if you are visiting the U.S.' (p. 15); a medically necessary return home after an evacuation is a Trip Interruption benefit, up to $10,000 (p. 15; Schedule, p. 8). Duration: cover runs for the paid certificate period (maximum 'twelve (12) months', p. 31), ends early on 'arrival upon your return to your home country' (p. 6), and the wording does not use Article 15(3)'s phrase 'entire duration of the intended stay' — the certificate spans the stay only if the buyer sets the dates that way. Underwriting (p. 5): master policy issued by TMHCC (CI) Insurance SPC Ltd for TMHCC (CI) - Travel SP 1, a Cayman Islands company licensed with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority as a Class B(iii) insurer; WorldTrips is a subsidiary of HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc., d/b/a Tokio Marine HCC; governing law Cayman Islands (p. 5). The document read is a specimen without an edition date; the purchased certificate confirms the elected limit, deductible and cover period. All pages read August 31, 2026.

Questions about WorldTrips Atlas Travel
Does WorldTrips Atlas Travel meet the EUR 30,000 minimum for a Schengen visa?
The Description of Coverage states limits in USD only: 'All others: $50,000, $100,000, $250,000, $500,000, $1,000,000 or $2,000,000' as electable overall maximum limits (Schedule, p. 6, read August 31, 2026). Whether a USD limit satisfies the EUR 30,000 minimum of Article 15(3) of Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 depends on the exchange rate at the date of assessment; CoverMandate does not convert. WorldTrips' own Schengen page indicates 'Minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros (about USD $35,445)' (read August 31, 2026).
Is Atlas Travel valid in all Schengen states?
The Description of Coverage lists no states. Members are 'eligible for coverage outside of their home countries' (Member Eligibility, p. 5) and the certificate confirms the 'geographical area of cover' (Definitions, p. 31; both read August 31, 2026). The Schengen-wide claim appears on WorldTrips' product page — 'Atlas Travel meets both Schengen and J-1 visa requirements' — and in its visa letter, not in the policy wording.
Does WorldTrips refund the Atlas Travel premium if the visa is refused?
Visa refusal is not named in the wording. The general cancellation clause applies: 'Premiums will be refunded in full if a cancellation request is received prior to the certificate effective date' (Cancellation, p. 3, read August 31, 2026). After that date a '$25 USD cancellation fee' applies, only the prorated portion is refunded, and no claims may have been filed.
Does Atlas Travel cover repatriation for medical reasons?
It states Emergency Medical Evacuation 'only to the nearest hospital that is qualified' (p. 15), up to $1,000,000 lifetime (Schedule, p. 7). A medically necessary return to the home country after an evacuation falls under Trip Interruption, up to $10,000 (p. 15; Schedule, p. 8). Return home under the evacuation benefit itself applies only 'if you are visiting the U.S.' (p. 15). All read August 31, 2026.
