Insurer lists published by consulates and visa centres in Indonesia
Some Schengen missions publish a list of insurers whose certificates they accept. These are the lists we found for applications lodged here, each with its own date.

Indonesia works with one joint list, not one list per embassy. The table is issued under EU Local Schengen Coordination by the EU Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam; the German embassy hosts the PDF and links it as its insurance guidance. The 2026 edition prints two disclaimers: the table "should be considered as an indicative overview of insurance offers available on the Indonesian market", and the Delegation "does not assume responsibility for compliance with Schengen Code requirements" — a listing is not an approval. The 2020 edition documents the maintenance cycle: "The next update will be made in early 2021", with listing requests to Delegation-Indonesia-LCC@eeas.europa.eu. Between the editions of January 15, 2020 and January 21, 2026 the list grew from 34 to 47 companies (our count of both documents, read August 31, 2026); the 2020 edition carried only Indonesian-addressed companies, the 2026 edition adds EU-addressed sellers (MondialCare/Paris, Mondassur/Boulogne, ULUI CiTi/Berlin selling HanseMerkur Visum Plus). We found no separate Austrian, Italian, Swiss or Belgian insurer list for Indonesia in searches on August 31, 2026, and the Dutch channel publishes none.
What applies specifically in Indonesia
Local practice
Verified at the primary source, read August 31, 2026. (1) The German embassy Jakarta's Schengen FAQ requires the sum insured to appear as a stated total — "Die Deckungssumme muss beziffert sein mit insgesamt 30.000 EUR für alle Risiken" — on a policy carrying the insured's name, and tells applicants to obtain an English printout ("lassen Sie sich einen Ausdruck in Englisch geben"). (2) The embassy's "Merkblatt Reisekrankenversicherung" (dated January 2020, still online on VFS Global's Germany–Indonesia path on the read date) states "Das Visum kann nur so lange gültig sein wie die vorgelegte Versicherungspolice" — the visa can be valid no longer than the presented policy — accepts EUR 30,000 "bzw. den Gegenwert dieser Summe in einer anderen Währung" (or the equivalent in another currency), and has multiple-entry applicants sign a trilingual declaration that insurance is required "during every stay in the Schengen Area" and that border authorities "may demand proof of adequate insurance". Whether that signed declaration is still demanded in 2026 is not something we established. (3) The joint list makes compliance exchange-rate-dependent for rupiah-capped plans: the recurring footnote states flagged plans "will not comply" once one euro exceeds IDR 20,000 — IDR 21,667 at Intra Asia and Avrist — and that the "Insurer has to adjust the policy coverage" (list update of January 21, 2026).
Where travellers buy
Among the policies whose documents we verified, none excludes Indonesian residence (all documents read August 31, 2026). Verdict states-all-requirements: AXA Schengen Low Cost, AXA Schengen Europe Travel (sold as Schengen Essential) and AXA Schengen Multi Trip — the July 2026 terms exclude only UK and US residence (GTC p. 10, §3.3); Europ Assistance Schengen — no residence restriction stated, purchase age capped at 74 (§14, p. 4); MondialCare (Schengen plan) — requires tax and/or legal residence outside the Schengen area (§1.1, p. 3) and is the one verified policy also named on the Jakarta list, as "Schengen Medical Insurance (EUR35,000)" and "(EUR100,000)" with no age limits; schengen.care — concluded for foreigners, defined as anyone who is not a citizen of Poland (GTC Article 5 section 3). Verdict states-most-see-notes, reservations recorded in their rows: Chapka Cap Schengen — buyers must not be residents of the Schengen area (§II, p. 8); EKTA travel (Schengen); DR-WALTER PROVISIT-VISUM — its conditions print no overall sum insured, while the German Jakarta FAQ requires a stated total; we point at both documents and adjudicate neither. Trawick Safe Travels Voyager is not-yet-verified and is not listed here. The Indonesian insurers on the Jakarta list (ACA, Allianz Utama, Astra Buana, MSIG, Sinar Mas, Simas Insurtech, Tokio Marine, Chubb, Sompo, Zurich Indonesia and others) are commonly listed, not verified by us — we have not read their policy wordings against Article 15.
Most-applied destinations
Not established from a primary count. The European Commission's consulate-level short-stay visa dataset for 2024 is the authoritative source; we did not parse the spreadsheet on the check date, and third-party summaries disagree with one another, so no ranking is printed here. Verified structure: the Netherlands lodges applications from residents of Indonesia and Timor-Leste at VFS Global Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali (netherlandsworldwide.nl, read August 31, 2026); Germany lodges through VFS Global as well (jakarta.diplo.de, page dated July 13, 2026).

Checked on
For Schengen visa applications lodged in Indonesia there is one joint insurer list. "EU Local Schengen Coordination — Jakarta", issued by the EU Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam and stating "Update 21/01/2026", is hosted by the German embassy, which links it as its insurance guidance (both read August 31, 2026). It names 47 companies, the plans that qualify, per-plan age limits, and each insurer's Schengen-area correspondent.
Two printed caveats outrank the count. The list calls itself "an indicative overview of insurance offers available on the Indonesian market", and the Delegation "does not assume responsibility for compliance with Schengen Code requirements" — a listing is not an approval. A recurring footnote ties rupiah-capped plans to the exchange rate: flagged plans "will not comply" once one euro exceeds IDR 20,000, and the "Insurer has to adjust the policy coverage".
The list has a paper trail. The edition of January 15, 2020 — still online as the annex to the German embassy's insurance memo on VFS Global's Germany–Indonesia pages — named 34 companies, all with Indonesian addresses, and announced yearly updates via the Delegation. The 2026 edition adds EU-addressed sellers, among them MondialCare, the one listed company whose policy document we have verified clause by clause against Article 15.
Lodging runs through VFS Global: the Netherlands takes applications from residents of Indonesia and Timor-Leste in Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali (netherlandsworldwide.nl, read August 31, 2026); Germany works with VFS Global as well (embassy page dated July 13, 2026). The German FAQ adds its own demand: "Die Deckungssumme muss beziffert sein mit insgesamt 30.000 EUR für alle Risiken" — the sum insured must appear as a stated total — on a policy carrying the applicant's name, with an English printout.
Questions from applicants in Indonesia
Is there an official list of accepted travel insurers for Schengen visa applications filed in Indonesia?
Yes, a joint one. The table "EU Local Schengen Coordination — Jakarta", updated January 21, 2026, names 47 companies and the exact plans that qualify. It also states it is "an indicative overview" and that the EU Delegation "does not assume responsibility for compliance with Schengen Code requirements" (read August 31, 2026).
Do rupiah-denominated travel policies meet the EUR 30,000 minimum?
Only while the exchange rate holds. The Jakarta list flags specific plans that "will not comply" once one euro exceeds IDR 20,000 — IDR 21,667 at two insurers — adding "Insurer has to adjust the policy coverage" (list of January 21, 2026, read August 31, 2026). The German embassy's January 2020 memo accepts EUR 30,000 or "the equivalent of this sum in another currency".
Where do you hand in a Schengen visa application in Indonesia?
At VFS Global. The Netherlands takes applications from residents of Indonesia and Timor-Leste in Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali (netherlandsworldwide.nl, read August 31, 2026). Germany also lodges through VFS Global (jakarta.diplo.de, page dated July 13, 2026). Other states' lodging channels were not verified by us on that date.
Can Indonesian residents buy the policies verified on this site?
The nine verified policies state no exclusion of Indonesian residence in the documents we read on August 31, 2026. AXA's terms exclude only UK and US residence (General Terms & Conditions July 2026, p. 10); MondialCare requires residence outside the Schengen area (§1.1, p. 3) and is itself named on the Jakarta list.
